Questions, answered plainly
The things people ask us most, about moving around Hampshire and heading abroad. If yours isn’t here, just ask — we’d rather tell you straight than leave you guessing.
Everything people ask us
What areas of Hampshire do you cover?
The county end to end — Southampton and the Waterside, Portsmouth and Havant, Winchester and mid-Hampshire, Basingstoke and the north, plus Eastleigh, Fareham, Gosport, Andover, Alton, Fleet and Aldershot. If you’re near the border with Dorset, Wiltshire, Surrey or West Sussex, ask — most of those moves are straightforward for us.
Do you do house removals across Hampshire?
House moves are the core of what we do, from a studio flat in Southampton to a period home in Winchester or a family house in the Basingstoke commuter belt. We match the crew and vehicle to the property, pack as much or as little as you want, and rebuild beds and wardrobes at the other end.
Can you move an office or business?
Yes — we move offices and small businesses around Southampton, Portsmouth and the Basingstoke corridor. We plan the sequence so IT and desks come apart and go back together in the right order, and we can work around your trading week — evenings or a weekend — to keep the disruption down.
Do you offer storage?
We do. If your dates don’t line up — the sale completes before the purchase, or you’re between places for a while — we can store your things in a clean, secure unit and bring them out when you’re ready. It folds into the same plan, so you deal with one team throughout.
Can you pack for me?
The whole house or just the parts you’d rather not tackle — the kitchen and the glassware are the usual ones. Everything is boxed with proper materials, labelled by room, and listed on an inventory so nothing goes missing between the two ends.
Which European countries do you move to from Hampshire?
France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Each is a road-planned move — loaded in Hampshire, out via the M27 and M3 to the Channel crossings, then on to the destination. We prepare the post-Brexit customs paperwork so your things clear cleanly at the border.
Do you ship by sea from Southampton port?
Our European moves are run by road via the Channel crossings — that’s how a household move to France, Italy, Spain or Portugal travels. Southampton’s port is part of the county’s character and sits on our doorstep, but we don’t claim a container sea-freight service we don’t run; if your move genuinely needs sea freight, tell us and we’ll be honest about what we can and can’t do.
How do you handle customs on a European move?
We prepare the inventory and the transit and customs documents a household move now needs, and file them for you. Timing at the border depends on the route and the paperwork rather than a fixed schedule, and your written quote sets out what to expect for your particular move.
How much notice do you need?
The sooner the better, especially for a weekend or the end of the month when everyone moves at once. That said, always ask — if we can fit a shorter-notice move in safely, we’ll tell you honestly whether we can.
What happens on moving day?
The crew arrives, protects the floors and doorways, and works room by room. Anything not already packed is wrapped and boxed, furniture is dismantled where it needs to be, and everything is loaded to a plan. At the other end it comes off in the order that makes sense and goes where you want it.
Do you move pianos, antiques or other awkward items?
Yes, with the right kit and enough hands. Hampshire has plenty of period homes with narrow stairs and tight lanes, so tell us at the survey — an upright versus a baby grand, a heavy antique, a wardrobe that won’t take the turn — and we’ll plan how it’s protected and carried.
What if I need to change the date?
Tell us as early as you can and we’ll do our best to move things around. Dates near month-end and Saturdays fill up first, so a bit of notice gives us the most room to help. The specifics of any deposit or rescheduling sit in the booking terms.
Didn’t find your answer?
Send us your move and any questions with it. We’ll come back promptly with a clear, itemised quote and the answers you need.
